half house

The main concept that guides the project is based on dividing the residence in half, separating it into two volumes, social and private sectors. Both have full access and direct connection to the terrain, inserting and allowing great permeability between internal and external environments.

The two volumes are connected by the main corridor, a central core which is also characterized as the major access and transition point of the residence, providing the necessary comfort, functionality and harmony for all the spaces. A house with a minimalist concept, but with a strong architectural expression.

The design of the house as well as all interior spaces are conceived with a neutral palette of colors and natural materials, always prioritizing aesthetic purity, economy, and visual continuity. The open layout of the living area and the large horizontal openings maximize the relationship between the interior of the house and its contact with the surroundings. These openings enhance the natural ventilation to the internal spaces, while the automated system of the brise-soleil allows the control of the solar incidence.

Enhanced by the sunlight, the warm tones and the handpicked design are used to bring the maximum comfort to the space and its residents. The wood, concrete, furniture - the CH07 Shell Chair, designed by Hans J. Wegner, an architectural masterpiece, that brings more personality to the bedroom setting, placed in a spot where you can enjoy nature and silence.

When I started to create the Half House project, the main intention was always unity. In the perception of the spaces, in the use of materials and tones, in the quality of the furniture - even if volumetrically the architecture of the residence is the division of social and private sectors, the unification was always present.

As an architect with a restless and creative mind, I know the great importance of having a quiet and intimate place that allows me to focus on the work and do it effectively. The Half House office was created with these needs in mind. It is isolated from the rest of the residence's environments, giving privacy to those who use it.

This project allowed me to discover and reach methodologies of graphic representation that could transmit not only technical aspects of the projects I create but also all the essence behind them, all the feeling, all the art that a good architecture has.

Whenever I am producing an illustration I feel like I am a painter, with a blank canvas in front of me, thinking "what do I do now?", "what kind of painting do I want this to be?" or "what feeling do I want to convey?" As if each click of the mouse was a brush stroke on the canvas. This is the feeling that the illustration causes in me.

In these ones, in particular, the type of texture and the way they behave on the "canvas" translate the touches of each type of brush used, in the vegetation of the ground, in the mass of trees in the background, and especially in the color and appearance of the sky and its clouds. And in all of them I'm always impressed by how illustration brings an infinite freedom to the graphic representation of the architectural project.

One of the things I consider most interesting in a project is when architecture is able to cross its technical conception and enters a field of conceptual exploration through artistic illustrations. They help me to visualize the elements of architecture in a more abstract way, almost as a parallel reality. In other words, they give me the freedom to explore imaginary fields that is usually not possible through technical drawings or realistic renderings, also acting as a bridge that connects my rationality with my sensibility, uniting the architect with the visual artist into one. There are no creative limits in the visual arts.

In these illustrations my greatest desire was to represent the technical solutions of the architectural project in a poetic way, extending beyond the intimacy of the internal space to the amplitude of the external environment. Undoubtedly, one of the most sensitive works I have ever produced.
