Robust, brutalist, solid, massive, imposing. Hawk's structure rises from a rigid central core that holds the observatory's vertical circulations and supports its only accessible floor.

From a set of mixed structural systems, the large thick volume of the highest point of the building hides the set of beams that hold the slab in place using structural steel ties, keeping it fixed to the rigid central core, helping to control vertical and horizontal forces. The large number of tie rods is a result of the structural calculation and also adds to the user experience of walking through it.​
