tres house

SPECIAL MENTION IN THE 2022 INTERNATIONAL GOLDEN TREZZINI AWARDS FOR ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN AS BEST PROJECT OF PRIVATE RESIDENCE

A monolith gently lying on top of the hill, emphasizing the view of the slope and the breadth of the landscape.

The TrES House, built entirely in black pigmented concrete, unfolds its 310 square meters in a linear form, following the line of the terrain where the volume of the house rests.

At the highest level of the terrain is the access point to the house, surrounded by dense vegetation, where a concrete walkway leads to a Shou Sugi Ban carbonized wood panel, the access door.

The sectoring of the house is divided from the central axis - which opens as an internal garden - maintaining contact with a deck, which expands the view to the horizon. The layout is arranged in a free and playful manner, and without any walls, the furniture acts as a divider of spaces while integrating them, allowing for a more autonomous arrangement. The kitchen opens to the living room, maintaining a direct connection to the garden and the deck, where a corridor leads to the office associated with the only bedroom in the residence. A large closet serves as an antechamber connecting the bedroom to the bathroom.

All in reinforced concrete, the structure follows a modular rationality. The main wall of the access facade receives the load from beams positioned transversally to the rectangular shape of the building, at the same time that they are supported by a row of 7 pillars. The modularity of the structure enables the composition of openings, all positioned on the same facade and framing the panorama, also sectoring the internal spaces.

Highlighting the textures of the different materials used in the composition of the house's architecture and interior design, the raw and sober aesthetic is given by the black color, from the pigmentation of the concrete to the furniture design.

The house makes reference to TrES-2b, an exoplanet orbiting the star GSC 03549-02811 located 702 light-years from earth discovered on August 21, 2006 by the Trans-Atlantic Exoplanet Survey (TrES) in the constellation of Draco. Reflecting less than 1% of sunlight because of its extremely low albedo, the planet was identified as the darkest exoplanet ever discovered.
